At Paul Ricard on Saturday one of the happiest men was Georges, a fan who brought with him many souvenirs from the past. He was enraptured with the idea of coming to meet his idols at the FIA WEC’s Prologue…and he was well prepared.
Armed with old photos of certain drivers, he took advantage of the occasion to have them signed – images from the many years since he’s been coming to the circuit since it opened in 1970. He was able to get Shinji Nakano (today a driver of the No.23 Millennium Racing ORECA 03 Nissan) to sign a photo taken when he was with Ligier, taken at the end of the 90s.
And just as George is delighted to see drivers from the past, and is mad about these meetings, the drivers themselves are equally delighted when they see him arrive with such great memories of their earlier career.
These were some of the great moments that could be seen up and down the Circuit Paul Ricard pitlane during the Pitwalk which allowed the general public to rub shoulders with the stars from the FIA World Endurance Championship.
