With just nine weeks to go until the opening round of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship, and a superb entry list of 32 cars expected, there is plenty to focus on in every one of the four classes.
Much of that focus will be on the five major motor manufacturers who have cars entered in the prototype and GT categories: Aston Martin, Audi, Ferrari, Porsche and Toyota.
In LMP1 there will be an equal and fierce battle between Audi – current Manufacturers World Champions – and Toyota who won three of the six races it entered in 2012. The news that Toyota would be entering two cars for the entire season will have delighted no one more than Audi! There will be more to come on that battle next week.
LMGTE delivered great racing at every one of last year’s rounds, and 2013 promises to be even better. Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche all have long and illustrious histories in GT racing, and the driver line ups expected in LMGTE Pro point towards nose-to-tail racing from the green flag to the chequered flag. There will be so much exciting racing to follow throughout the year, you won’t know where to look first!
