Two-time FIA Formula E World Championship runner-up Nick Cassidy will make a full-time return to the FIA World Endurance Championship grid next year, after being announced as part of Team Peugeot TotalEnergies’ 2026 Hypercar line-up.
Cassidy might be best-known for his single-seater successes – having placed inside the top three in the Formula E standings in each of the most recent three campaigns – but the versatile New Zealander also boasts no little endurance racing pedigree.
Three years ago, he competed for AF Corse in FIA WEC’s LMGTE Am category, tallying a pair of top five finishes. Similarly on his illustrious career CV are appearances in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and five seasons spent in Japan’s Super GT Series, in which he was crowned champion in 2017.
Now, Cassidy is preparing to rejoin the international pinnacle of the discipline – only this time, at the very highest level.
“I’m very proud to be joining Peugeot for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship,” the 31-year-old Auckland native enthused. “Racing for such an iconic brand in endurance racing – especially at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – is a dream opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the team’s ambitions and taking on the challenge ahead.”
Cassidy will support Peugeot in the garage at Circuit of The Americas in Texas this weekend (5-7 September), as the French manufacturer contests round six of the 2025 FIA WEC campaign, the six-hour Lone Star Le Mans. He will subsequently get his first taste of the 9X8 Hypercar in a test organised two days after the race alongside the team’s test and development driver, Théo Pourchaire.
“We are delighted to welcome Nick to the Peugeot programme,” commented Peugeot Sport Technical Director, Olivier Jansonnie. “His experience in various disciplines, his technical approach and his speed make him a valuable asset for the team. This session in Austin will be an important first contact with the Peugeot 9X8, ahead of his official entry into our full-time line-up in 2026.”
