Genesis Magma Racing has revealed an unchanged stable of drivers for its sophomore season in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027, as the Korean motorsport newcomer bids to build upon the promise and potential displayed over the course of its maiden campaign.
The premium arm of major automotive marque Hyundai broke new ground when it joined FIA WEC’s burgeoning Hypercar grid under the Genesis Magma Racing banner earlier this year, giving a solid account of itself on its debut by getting both cars to the chequered flag at Imola.
It caused an even bigger stir when the #17 entry piloted by double world champion André Lotterer, two-time IMSA title-winner ‘Pipo’ Derani and rising star Mathys Jaubert scored points courtesy of a competitive eighth-place finish in only the GMR-001’s second outing at Spa-Francorchamps – a result the trio subsequently improved upon in Texas last month.
Jaubert then stunned the endurance racing fraternity by claiming a landmark pole position for the recent 6 Hours of Barcelona – the penultimate round of the season – backed up by stablemate Mathieu Jaminet close behind in third in the sister #19 Genesis the Frenchman shares with compatriot Paul-Loup Chatin and home hero, Daniel Juncadella.
The Spaniard was re-confirmed as part of the programme for 2027 last weekend, with the decision to stick with the same six-strong crew providing both stability and a solid foundation for the next phase of the project, by exploiting the experience gained and relationships forged during the GMR-001’s development to-date.

Team Principal, Cyril Abiteboul says the progress made over the past six months has vindicated the brand’s selection, with all of the drivers rising to the challenge of competing for a new outfit in a fiercely-contested series – and each playing an instrumental role in accelerating Genesis’ upward momentum.
“We’re extremely happy with the performance of our drivers this year – both in the races and as we continue to develop the GMR-001 Hypercar,” the Frenchman underlined. “Looking to 2027, it was about what we felt was the best choice for us to quickly take the next step we need. Retaining our driver line-up – and the knowledge they have of the GMR-001 Hypercar – is an important part of that.”
“Our drivers have worked together incredibly well this season,” echoed Sporting Director, Gabriele Tarquini. “The performances on-track have been strong, but more importantly, the dynamic between them has been great from the first moments. Their work together, and with our technical staff, has been very important in the progress we have made during the season, and by keeping the same drivers for 2027, we can continue that positive trajectory.”
The exact composition of Genesis Magma Racing’s two driving crews for next year will be confirmed ahead of the opening round of the campaign.
