Under the new regulations, points accrued by both cars entered under the same competitor licence will be combined to determine the championship classification in the production-based category.

As a result, the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams will be awarded to the competitor that accumulates the highest points total from its two entries over the course of the campaign.

Currently, each car within a two-car team scores independently, with championship points attributed by individual race number. The change places the emphasis on overall team performance, with both cars henceforth set to contribute to the final outcome.

The update was announced during this week’s Autumn reunion of the FIA World Motor Sport Council.

The 2026 LMGT3 Teams’ crown will be disputed in next month’s 6 Hours of Monza season finale (6-8 November) between TF Sport’s #33 Corvette, The Bend Manthey’s Barcelona-winning #92 Porsche, the #34 Racing Team Turkey by TF Corvette and the #69 Team WRT BMW.
