Barely two months from the start of its eagerly-anticipated 14th season, the FIA World Endurance Championship is proud to present a brand new YouTube docuseries, as ‘Beyond the Track’ transports fans to the heart of the sport and shines a spotlight on some of the unsung heroes working tirelessly behind-the-scenes.
Building upon the popularity of recent FIA WEC YouTube successes ‘Meet the Legends’ and ‘WEC Icons’ – focusing respectively on the championship’s major marques and iconic race cars – ‘Beyond the Track’ was filmed over seven months during the 2025 campaign. Homing in on the human aspect, it explores the undocumented backstories of paddock personalities – people whose efforts are so crucial to the collective goal yet often go unnoticed.
From drivers to engineers, mechanics to strategists and logisticians to communication specialists, no role is omitted in this fascinating insight into the inner workings of race teams and how every piece of the puzzle must link intricately together in the shared quest for success.
‘Beyond the Track’ takes viewers from the circuit to the pit wall and into the most private areas of team garages, encapsulating the myriad emotions so indissociable from endurance racing – a sport in which participants sometimes spend weeks on end away from home, embedded within their motorsport ‘family’.
From Aston Martin’s bid to return to the top step of the podium at Le Mans for the first time in almost seven decades to the ups-and-downs of Mercedes’ maiden campaign in the series, ‘Beyond the Track’ grants unprecedented access to the key stories of the season.
Car dealer-turned-amateur racer Ben Keating – a man who lives at full-throttle both on and away from the circuit – offers an insight into Texas ranch life, his day job and the passion that drives everything he does. BMW’s René Rast reveals his secret to staying young, while factory Porsche star Michelle Gatting lifts the lid on the internal dynamics and tensions within the Iron Dames, the pioneering all-female outfit that she credits with ‘changing her life’.
“I wanted to kill her because she drives me crazy,” the Dane candidly says of one of her team-mates. ‘Beyond the Track’ really is no-holds-barred…
The mini-series is composed of ten unmissable episodes that will air on the FIA WEC YouTube channel over the coming three weeks. Check out the dates below to find out when to tune in:
