Jim Hall announced as Grand Marshal for Lone Star Le Mans
14/09/2015

The legendary Jim Hall has been named as Grand Marshal for the 2015 Lone Star Le Mans weekend, 17-19 September at Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

Among his activities at the Austin track, the 80-year-old Texan will wave off the 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas at 5pm on Saturday.  He will also be re-united with the iconic high-winged Chaparral 2E car which will be on display over the weekend at the track’s Grand Plaza area.

Hall came to fame as a Grand Prix driver in the early 1960s, but cemented his place in motorsport history with the concept and construction of Chaparral race cars.  One of the most innovative designs of the 1960s, Hall was a very early adopter of aerodynamics as applied to racing cars and was the leading proponent of that technology for an entire decade.

Fans will have a chance to meet the legend himself during an autograph session by his Chaparral car at 6:00 pm on Friday, 18 September in the Grand Plaza.
