LMGTE teams news round up after 6 Hours of Bahrain
AF Corse’s Bruni and Vilander are World Champions
Gimmi Bruni and Toni Vilander are this year’s FIA World Endurance Champions in the LMGTE-Pro category. Driving the Team AF Corse number 51 458 Italia they did it in the best way possible, also taking the win in the Bahrain 6 Hours at the Sakhir circuit, beating the Aston Martin of Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke and the 71 Ferrari of team-mates James Calado and Davide Rigon.
Totally dominant. Having started from second, the 51 car soon took the lead thanks to a great first stint from Bruni, who with his usual foot-down style never considered simply controlling the situation, but chose to attack to avoid any possible loss of concentration. Toni Vilander made the most of all his experience, managing the car perfectly, helped by the fact their closest rivals for the title in the Porsches were never in the running.

Aston Martin wins in Bahrain and clinches two world titles
Aston Martin Racing has won the GTE Am class of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Six Hours of Bahrain and, in doing so, has scooped the Endurance Trophy for GTE Am Teams and the Endurance Trophy for GTE Am Drivers at the penultimate round of the 2014 championship.
The #95 Young Driver AMR Vantage GTE has clinched the GTE Am championship-title with one round of the eight-race series still remaining and Aston Martin Racing works drivers David Heinemeier Hansson (DN) and Kristian Poulsen (DN) will take the drivers trophy in the GTE Am class.

Best Porsche 911 RSR narrowly misses podium placing
An inspired charge through the field on the Bahrain International Circuit it was not enough for the Porsche 911 RSR to secure a podium spot for the first time in this year’s sports car World Endurance Championship, two weeks after a brilliant double victory in Shanghai.
In the number 91 Porsche Team Manthey 911 RSR, Porsche works drivers Jörg Bergmeister (Germany) and Richard Lietz (Austria) scored fourth place in the highly competitive GTE-Pro class at the penultimate round of the season in the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Persian Gulf. Their factory pilot colleagues and Shanghai winners Frédéric Makowiecki and Patrick Pilet from France saw the flag in fifth at the wheel of the number 92 vehicle.

Sand in the works for Prospeed Competition in Bahrain
Where on the one hand most championships have started their winter recess, the World Endurance Championship (WEC) on the other hand is still going strong. This weekend the penultimate round of the championship was on the calendar: the 6 Hours of Bahrain. Following this competition in Bahrain this weekend, the Belgian ProSpeed Competition team as also the other teams still face the season’s finale in Brazil held on the F1 Interlagos circuit.
