No.1 Audi Sport Team Joest driver, Loic Duval, first raced at Fuji back in 2006 as a 24-year-old Formula Nippon driver. He has since claimed two titles in Japan (the 2009 Formula Nippon and the 2010 Super GT crowns). He has also completed thousands of kilometres at the circuit and will be using all of his knowledge and experience to the full to take the challenge to Toyota and Porsche this weekend.
“Fuji is the kind of track where you have to work and work at the set-up very hard,” said Duval this afternoon. “The secrets are to brake late and get the power on early (laughs!). But seriously the main secrets are in just working solidly on the set up and making sure you get all the sectors to flow because they are very different in nature.”
Duval is not the only member of the Audi Sport Team Joest to have excelled in Japan, as Tom Kristensen, Benoît Tréluyer and André Lotterer have all tasted success.
“Racing in Japan is unique because the fans are so fantastic. They all have great enthusiasm and knowledge; the atmosphere is like nowhere else. I have so many great memories of racing and living here that it is always a pleasure to come back, especially as an Audi driver and racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.”
