My Sebring…Augusto Farfus

Ahead of the WEC’s visit to Sebring, we asked drivers about what it takes to get a good lap at Sebring, and what’s so special about the track. The last in this series BMW’s Augusto Farfus (with a little help from Nicky Catsburg)!

“To get a good lap in Sebring needs a car which is properly set up to handle the bumps well and which has good front compliancy and a lot of traction out of low speed corners.  Sebring is very special.  It’s a very bumpy track so you need to know how to place the car, but the car also needs to allow you to go where you want. The work between driver, car and team is extremely important because a good car in Sebring can bring a lot of lap time.

“I think Sebring is one of a kind and the history there is unique. It’s a good mixture of slow, medium and fast corners (especially the last corner) which is very special.  It’s the bumpiest track in the WEC calendar – it is legendary. Every strong car and legendary driver has won there – if you manage to survive a race distance in Sebring, you’ll survive anything.  We haven’t been successful yet, so I think it is time to push.”

WEC practice begins on Wednesday March 13, including a night practice, with qualifying taking place on Thursday March 14 from 9:30 pm and the green flag dropping for the 1000 Miles of Sebring at 4:00 pm on Friday March 15.
