Porsche confirms 2018-19 driver line ups for WEC

While the LMP1 project may be over, Porsche GT will continue to represent the marque from Stuttgart in the super-competitive GTE classes – notably in the manufacturer-led LMGTE Pro category.

In all the talk of Porsche ‘leaving’ the WEC, many seem to have forgotten that Porsche will still very much be present in 2018-19!

While the LMP1 project may be over, Porsche GT will continue to represent the marque from Stuttgart in the super-competitive GTE classes – notably in the manufacturer-led LMGTE Pro category.

At its “Night of Champions” motorsport gala in Weissach on Saturday night, Porsche confirmed the drivers who will fight for the Super Season championship taking place in 2018-19.

In the No.91 Porsche 911 RSR will be Gianmaria Bruni – the former two time GTE Pro champion returning to the WEC for the first time since 2016 – and Richard Lietz, champion in 2015.  They will be joined for the 24 Hours of Le Mans by Frédéric Makowiecki.

The No.92 will be manned by Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen, as in 2017, and they will be supported by Laurens Vanthoor for the endurance classic in France.

In the GTE Am class, a number of customer teams are expected to apply for entry to the Super Season with the 2017-spec 911 RSR.
