Porsche confirms Proton Proton Racing in LMGTE Pro for 2016
12/12/2015

In tonight's Night of Champions in Weissach, Germany, Porsche has confirmed that World GT Champion Richard Lietz will return to the FIA World Endurance Championship to defend his title with Michael Christensen, and in 2016 will race a Proton-Dempsey Racing-entered Porsche 911 RSR.

The duo will compete in the LMGTE Pro category, and will be joined at the 24 Hours of Le Mans by Wolf Henzler. Patrick Dempsey has scaled back his racing commitments to spend more time with his family in 2016, but has not ruled out entering races when his commitments allow.

It is planned that Patrick Pilet, new Porsche factory driver Kevin Estre and reigning Le Mans champion Nick Tandy will share a further Porsche 911 at Le Mans, together with fellow 2015 24 Hour winner Earl Bamber plus Frederic Makowiecki and Joerg Bergmeister in a third GTE Pro car.
