Porsche took its debut FIA World Endurance Championship win at Interlagos today after a sensational 6 Hours of Sao Paulo.
Neel Jani in the #14 Porsche 919 Hybrid took the chequered flag ahead of Anthony Davidson’s Toyota TS 040 Hybrid after a race long duel. The points won by Toyota today make them the 2014 FIA World Endurance Manufacturers’ title.
The race ended under the safety car after a serious accident between the #20 Porsche of Mark Webber and the #90 AF Corse Ferrari of Matteo Cressoni. Cressoni was checked by the medical staff at the side of the track and cleared, while Mark Webber, who was awake and alert, was taken to the circuit medical centre for further examination. Tom Kristensen finished his final ever race in the third place to the delight of his team and his legions of fans.
The #27 SMP Racing crew take the LMP2 teams title and Sergey Zlobin is crowned Drivers’ champion. KCMG take a clear LMP2 class win.
Aston Martin Racing duo, Darren Turner and Stefan Mucke, win LMGTE Pro in the #97, while #98 Aston Martin Racing crew take LMGTE Am victory.
