Senna ready for WEC return
23/03/2016

Bruno Senna is relishing his return to the FIA WEC paddock this year as he gets ready for his first ever LMP2 programme with the newly formed RGR Sport by Morand team.

The Brazilian is well known to the series after racing for the Aston Martin Racing squad in both 2013 and 2014, but a new challenge awaits in 2016 when he will partner team founder Ricardo Gonzalez and Portuguese ace Filipe Alburquerque in the first ever Mexican-entered car to race in the WEC.

“It is great to be back in the WEC, I love the style and purity of the racing,” said Senna ahead of The Prologue. “The LMP2 class is obviously very competitive and the place to be this season. I can see some really exciting times because I think that there are so many different cars that can win, or be in with a chance of winning.”

Senna has previous LMP experience with the ORECA team back in 2009, but the chance to race in the ultra-competitive LMP2 category, with a proven car like the Ligier JS P2, was eagerly accepted by the 32 year-old.

“The concept of the (RGR Sports by Morand) team is very new and earlier this month we tested at Aragon for a few days in Spain, it was very useful,” continued Senna. “The feeling of the LMP2 came quite quickly to me and of course I have experience of a similar type of car before. What I am really looking forward to is sharing the car with both Filipe and Ricardo. I think that we can make a very nice team together and prove to be a strong unit on the track.”
