In what must be one of the most spectacular build-ups to any international motor race, the 6 Hours of Bahrain saw a Red Bull wing-suited daredevil fly on to the grid just before the cars started their starting procedure this afternoon.
The breath-taking stunt show was performed by Red Bull daredevil Jokke Sommer and Bahraini rally driver Abdo Feghali, and it ‘wowed’ the race-goers, teams and drivers on the start grid at the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Bahrain.
Feghali, a Lebanese rally driver and triple national champion began his career in 1998. His passion for drifting pushed him to develop his talent and become a drifting veteran.
Sommer, who reaches speeds of up to 85mph in his special Red Bull ‘wing-suit’ showed his skill and precision by landing in the middle of the ‘doughnut’ marks made expertly by Feghali in the sideways drift car.
It was a fitting start to the extravaganza of the 6 Hours of Bahrain where the astonishing reflexes and accuracy of the Red Bull stunt will be matched by the drivers and teams in the seventh round of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship.
