They have been missed in the paddocks of the world since Le Mans 2013 but now the familiar faces of the Silverstone based Strakka Racing team are back in the WEC paddock.
Team Manager Dan Walmsley was impatient to get the first public running of the Strakka Dome S103-Nissan underway at the WEC Prologue test, saying: “It is great to be here. It has been a long time and there will be a lot of work going on in the team to get all our procedures and other organisational elements of the team up to speed and polished. We have done a lot of work on the car, so it will be nice to see where we are compared to the opposition, but I have a feeling that we will have to wait and see where we really are at Silverstone.”
The vibrant new colour scheme on the Anglo-Japanese car will ensure it is easy to pick out this season. Team owner and driver Nick Leventis has expressed his love for reggae music by including the famed red, gold and green stripes on the car. Indeed the 35 year-old named his two children Zion and Marley!
Strakka driver Danny Watts is looking forward to getting back in the cockpit of the S013 and believes that there will be a battle royal this season in the LMP2 class.
“It is going to be mega,” said Watts. “The class is so strong with so many potential winners. It will be super tough but we have some great talents working in the team. We know what we can achieve as a unit and we will be going all out to prove that the Strakka-Dome package can be right there at the front.”
