Tom Kristensen to drive through Le Mans in Audi R18

Tom Kristensen to drive through Le Mans in Audi R18
25/03/2014

FIA WEC World Champions Audi will today be unveiling in Le Mans the technology, innovations and final 2014 livery of the R18 e-tron quattros soon to be seen racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

After having already revealed many of the technical details at the recent Geneva Motor Show, Audi is widening its presentation to the general public by means of a unique format, which is very different to many of the static car launches often seen today.

Tom Kristensen, holder of the all-time record for wins in the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be driving the LMP1-H prototype racer from the Place des Jacobins to the race track.  The venue has long been associated with ‘Scrutineering’, the start of every team’s Le Mans odyssey, and more recently as the starting site of the famous drivers’ parade which takes place on the eve of the French classic. The drive is also in keeping with an all-but forgotten tradition of the legendary race, dating back to the days when the drivers would travel to the venue in their race cars.

The famous Dane’s journey begins at 13:30hrs CET and it will be preceded by an autograph session with Tom Kristensen and his WEC team-mates which starts at 12:30 hrs and which will be held at the Place des Jacobins in central Le Mans.
