Offering fans a fascinating insight into the stars of the show, WEC Full Access covers everything from team briefings to heated mid-race discussions. It is the ultimate behind-the-scenes series, documenting the most private areas of the FIA WEC paddock.

The 93rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (11-15 June) was a scorcher – both on and off-track. In the presence of a record-breaking crowd of 332,000 enthusiastic spectators, Ferrari saw off Porsche for a third consecutive victory in France following an epic duel between two of the sport’s all-time greats.

As ever, WEC Full Access transports viewers right to the heart of the action, from Cadillac’s celebrations in Hyperpole – where Alex Lynn atoned for the disappointment of 12 months earlier by leading a front row lockout on the 75th anniversary of the American brand’s La Sarthe debut – to the fever pitch pre-race atmosphere, breathtaking on-track battles and heated discussions behind closed doors.

The episode lifts the lid on the mental and physical toll taken by Le Mans – a week-long event that places intense demands on everybody involved – from initial feelings of excitement and anticipation to the unremitting sense of fatigue that inescapably sets in.

Last year’s qualifying hero Kévin Estre was one of the standout performers once again for Porsche Penske Motorsport, and WEC Full Access invites fans to join the reigning world champion on-board as he carves spectacularly through the pack from 21st on the grid to the front of the field, pulling off a succession of awe-inspiring overtakes along the way.

The fired-up Frenchman and his team-mates engaged in several tight tussles with Ferrari’s three Hypercar crews, with the legendary German manufacturer ultimately falling barely 14 seconds short in its quest to clinch an unprecedented 20th La Sarthe triumph.

Elsewhere up-and-down the pit-lane, there was drama and heartbreak for those that didn’t go the distance, as Le Mans lived up to its reputation for breaking cars and breaking spirits. Encapsulating the emotions and the build-up of blood, sweat and tears, WEC Full Access captures the disheartening moment the garage doors slowly descend for the final time.

While Ferrari might have bagged two of the three spots on the overall podium, the race was not completely plain sailing for the Prancing Horse either. Indeed, rising internal tensions repeatedly threatened to boil over as all three of the marque’s Hypercars vied for victory in the biggest and most prestigious event of the season.

Oh yes, and with tennis legend Roger Federer appointed official starter for the twice-round-the-clock contest, find out which FIA WEC driver is a bit of a super-fan of the Swiss superstar…

Featuring perceptive observations from 2014 FIA World Endurance Champion-turned-official commentator Anthony Davidson, the fourth instalment of this season’s WEC Full Access series can be viewed exclusively on the FIA WEC App. It will be published on the championship’s YouTube channel on Monday, 7 July at 20:45 CEST.
