Trummer makes the switch to WEC

Trummer makes the switch to WEC
01/04/2015

Adding to the vast ranks of GP2 drivers that have raced and continue to compete in the WEC, Simon Trummer has begun his first serious running in the newly named and new-look ByKolles LMP1 car this week.

The Swiss driver joins up with Pierre Kaffer and Tonio Liuzzi this year in the AER powered CLM entry, which will run under the Austrian flag in 2015.

“It is nice to be back with the team after my brief run last year,” said Trummer, who made his debut at the 6 Hours of Bahrain last autumn. “There are many new aspects to the team and car though this year. We have made some good progress already and these tests will give us some very solid preparations for Silverstone.”

“The car feels a bit like a heavier GP2 car,” continued Trummer. “It surprised me actually but you soon get used to the fact that the cockpit is enclosed and that you have to focus on the team rather than you the individual. I think we have a nice and blanaced team in the car this year with lots of experience and speed. We should be in good shape after these testing days.”

The modified Team ByKolles run CLM P1/01 LMP2 features several changes for 2015 including a new gearbox and new suspension and aerodynamic package.

Trummer will partner Liuzzi at Silverstone and Spa as Kaffer is on TUSC duty in the US. The experiened German will then join his team mates for the Le Mans 24 Hours.
