WEC meeting the fans of tomorrow

WEC meeting the fans of tomorrow
07/05/2016

On the first day of action at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, the FIA World Endurance Championship hosted pupils from the ‘Princesse de Liège’ school from Embourg. The girls and boys, accompanied by their parents, were shown behind the scenes of the event and observed how different areas of the organization work ahead of the race being held today, Saturday, 7th May.

On the programme was a lap around the exterior of the track, a meeting with Paul Abeillé - Météo France’s weatherman who is at every race to inform teams and the organisation of expected conditions, photos on the podium, plus a visit to the paddock with the chance to visit the pit garages of AF Corse, Signatech Alpine, SMP Racing and Toyota Gazoo Racing.

During the sunny afternoon the pupils learned about the diversity of jobs carried out in the paddock. They were able to talk with engineers, mechanics, the weatherman and, more especially, with the drivers who are always happy to share their experiences with children.

The visit was finally concluded in the WEC hospitality unit for a well-deserved snack and drink. Who knows, maybe some of these new young fans have found future careers?
