24 Hours of Le Mans: Team Project 1 promoted to winners in LMGTE Am

Following post-race technical scrutineering at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the No.68 Chip Ganassi Team USA Ford GT (Hand-Muller-Bourdais, LMGTE Pro) and the No.85 Keating Motorsports Ford GT (Keating-Bleekemolen-Fraga, LMGTE Am) have both been disqualified.

This was for having a total onboard fuel volume which was found to be in excess of the permitted limit.

Stewards’ Decision No.121 – Ford Chip Ganassi Team USA; Stewards Decision No.123 – Keating Motorsports: Alleged breach of Article 7.4.3 of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Specific Regulations referencing Art.20 of the Technical Regulations of Grand Touring Cars (LMGTE) and decisions of the Endurance Committee (14/06/2019) Decision No.19_D00014_LMGTE-BOP-Le Mans.

The decision in LMGTE Am promotes WEC Champions Team Project 1 (No.56 Porsche 911 RSR of Bergmeister-Lindsey-Perfetti) to winners.  The team had already taken maximum points for the final round of the WEC Super Season as Keating Motorsports was not a full-time entrant and did not therefore score points in the championship.

The results of the 24 Hours of Le Mans remain provisional as the teams have a right to appeal, and until all post-race checks have been completed.
