For the seventh round of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Challenge we head to the People’s Republic of China for the 6 Hours of Shanghai. Toyota Racing is once again entering two of its hybrid-powered TS030 Hybrid LMP1s for the event at the Shanghai International Circuit, and they will be looking to challenge the two Audi Sport Team Joest R18 e-tron quattro entries throughout the entire six hours of racing.
Shanghai’s 5.5 km (3.4 mile) track was designed by Hermann Tilke and hosted its first F1 Chinese Grand Prix in 2004. The FIA World Endurance Championship made its first visit to Shanghai last year, and the fast track provides a great setting to showcase the hybrid performance of the LMP1 prototypes.
There will be four specified ‘braking zones’ – the areas in which the energy recuperation hybrid technology can be employed – for the 6 Hours of Shanghai, in Turns 1, 6, 11 and 14. The entry of each zone will be considered as at the 50m board before the curve.
