Last week, the successful French squad confirmed that Petru Umbrărescu would remain part of its six-strong effort, with Tom Van Rompuy joining the fold from TF Sport.

The re-signing of Clemens Schmid ensures the #87 car will head into battle with an unaltered line-up, as the rapid Austrian ace, Umbrărescu and two-time world champion José María López bid to build upon a breakthrough campaign that yielded a brace of victories – in São Paulo and Sakhir – and third position in the final standings.

Over the past two seasons, 35-year-old Schmid has established himself as a key reference within the Jérôme Policand-helmed outfit, bringing the benefits of his speed, consistency and strong technical understanding of endurance racing.

In contrast to that continuity, in the #78 Lexus, it is all change, with Van Rompuy and Esteban Masson set to be flanked by fellow fresh face, Hadrien David. Only 21 years of age, the reigning Le Mans Cup LMP3 champion turned heads with his racecraft on his way to sealing the championship runner-up spoils in the GT4 European Series’ Silver Cup in 2025 for Matmut Évolution, similarly run by Policand.

The rising French star set the LMGT3 category pace while trying out for Akkodis during last month’s Bahrain Rookie Test, and will make his FIA WEC debut behind the wheel of the Lexus in the forthcoming curtain-raising contest in Qatar on 28 March. The campaign will subsequently stop off at Imola, Spa-Francorchamps, the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, Interlagos, COTA and Fuji, ahead of the traditional eight-hour finale in Bahrain.
