British driver Archie Hamilton will join his fellow countryman Oliver Webb and Frenchman Pierre Ragues at the wheel of the #43 Morgan EVO SARD entered by the Swiss team in the LMP2 class for the 6 Hours of the Nurburgring on Sunday August 30.
Born in London, Hamilton made his reputation in endurance and GT Racing over the past few years, with two Le Mans starts in 2013 (LMP2) and 2014 (LMGTE) and also wins and pole positions in the International GT Open championship. He returns to prototype racing with TEAM SARD MORAND.
Archie Hamilton: "I have known Benoit for years and even tested with him during the Formula Le Mans period. We kept in contact and we have been able to put everything together for this race. It makes sense to come back to the WEC, it is the highest level you can find in Endurance racing. I have also known Oliver for many years; I've never met Pierre but his race record speaks for itself. We have a lot to do ahead of us this week. We must go step by step but we can expect the same kind of result as in Spa. As for me, FP1 at the Nürburgring will be the opportunity to get back to prototype driving and get familiar with the Morgan. I am confident since I know the track and love this mix between slow, technical and high speed corners. Of course we must be very careful with faster LMP1 cars. I would like to thank everybody and especially Benoit and his team for this great opportunity."
Benoit Morand (Team Manager): "We are happy to see Archie Hamilton join the team for the German round of the WEC. Archie rapidly proved to be the best option, we have known him for years and he is familiar with the Nurburgring race track where he previously competed in GT racing. His LMP2 experience will also be of great value for our team. I have no doubt that the line-up he will form with Oliver and Pierre will be competitive. We wish a quick recovery to Zoel [Amberg] and hope to see him again on the race tracks as soon as possible. His speed and technical feedback were much appreciated at Spa and Le Mans."
