Signatech-Nissan

This weekend, the 6th round of the FIA World Endurance Championship was taking place at the Sakhir International Circuit. For their first event in the Kingdom of Bahrain, SIGNATECH NISSAN and their No.23 ORECA 03-Nissan claimed their best result of the season, finishing 7th overall but more importantly 2nd in LMP2. The team therefore brought their run of bad luck, which had followed them all season, to an end.

The crew of the No 26 ORECA 03-NISSAN saw all their hopes of victory destroyed, finishing the Six Hours of Bahrain in the top five of the LMP2 classification.  After a superb podium in Silverstone, Nelson Panciatici, Pierre Ragues and Roman Rusinov were heading for victory here, when the technical stewards forced them to pit due to a lighting failure.

OAK Racing

OAK Racing again demonstrated the raw pace of its Morgan 2012 LM P2 at the Six Hours of Bahrain today after the #24 car fought back to finish fourth of the WEC entries and sixth in class following a difficult start to the race. The French team had harboured high hopes of a strong result prior to round six of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship having seen its pair of Onroak Automotive designed and built Morgan prototypes top all three free practice sessions and then annex row two on the grid.

Meanwhile bad luck struck the #35 sister machine which retired with suspected suspension failure just 30 minutes into the race. Dominik Kraihamer, who was due to share with Bertrand Baguette and Alex Brundle, had been running a solid fifth when he was powerless to prevent the car from going straight on into the gravel at turn one.

Lotus

The team showed a strong and impressive performance and achieved its best race result of the season so far. Car #32 finished the race in fourth position, just about 30 seconds off from the second place. Kevin Weeda, James Rossiter and Vitantonio Liuzzi did solid runs and were fighting for the podium. The black and gold livered Lotus LMP2 car #32 was even leading its class in the race.

Greaves Motorsport

Greaves Motorsport scored an incident riddled fifth place today in the 6 hours of Bahrain, the sixth round of the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship. Driving the team’s Nissan powered Zytek LM P2 prototype, the driver line up of Christian Zugel, Ricardo Gonzalez and Elton Julian, battled with adversity to produce, considering the prevailing circumstances, a great result.
