Brendon Hartley on WEC Talk: “It’s a four-wheel-drive monster… a complete buzz to drive!”

Episode three of WEC Talk – the official FIA World Endurance Championship podcast – has just landed in time for the weekend!

This week’s podcast features an in-depth interview with double FIA WEC World Champion, Brendon Hartley, from his home in New Zealand who talks to us about gaming, keeping fit and what it’s like to sit behind the wheel of an LMP1 “monster".

Hartley also admits that he’s been astonished by how good some gamers are including the likes of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris... and takes some time to reflect on how his motorsport career all began when he took part in a go-kart race at the age of six.

As well as an interview with Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Hartley, expert endurance racing commentator and WEC Talk host Martin Haven also talks to Team Project 1’s Ben Keating from his home in Texas, USA. Keating talks business, fitness, family life and gives an insight into what it’s like to be a gentleman driver in the highly-competitive LMGTE Am category.

Keating takes up the story: “I really love the way that WEC is structured for [LMGTE] Am because we are all racing the Pro cars from previous years… the series has a full year of data to look at so they can get it right for us to go out and race.  In order to level the playing field, they have added success ballast and I personally love it – it’s an incredible system.”

Finally, we hear from WEC’s resident pitlane reporter Louise Beckett in “The Beckett Briefing” who discusses what various teams have been doing to help the current Coronavirus pandemic including initiatives from Aston Martin Racing, Ferrari, Rebellion Racing and Cetilar Racing.

Don’t forget to listen HERE and check back again next week when WEC Talk will have more exclusive interviews from drivers and key names from the world of endurance racing.

In the meantime, stay home and stay safe!
