WEC Full Access from last month’s 6 Hours of Imola – round two of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign – is now available to watch for subscribers of the FIA WEC App.
Offering fans a fascinating insight into the stars of the show, WEC Full Access covers everything from team briefings to heated mid-race discussions. It is the ultimate behind-the-scenes series, documenting the most private areas of the FIA WEC paddock.
As one of the most ‘old-school’ and unforgiving circuits on the calendar, the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari invariably delivers drama – and Alex Lynn was one of the first to fall foul of its uncompromising nature, crashing his Cadillac at Rivazza during the final free practice session and requiring the JOTA crew to reprise its rebuild heroics from Le Mans last year.
The Briton repaid his team by hauling the #12 V-Series.R prototype into the Hyperpole top ten shootout in qualifying barely four hours later, and there were even bigger celebrations for motorcycling legend Valentino Rossi, who claimed his maiden pole position in the championship in the LMGT3 category.
For Ferrari’s Antonio Fuoco, by contrast, there were only commiserations, as the home hero found himself repeatedly caught out by track limits – leaving the Qatar-winning scarlet 499P Hypercar to begin the race from 18th and last place.
WEC Full Access takes viewers onto the starting grid as the tension rises – and then into the cockpit over the course of a typically hectic opening lap, as the cars jostle for position with no quarter given. Notably, fans can join Fuoco’s team-mate Nicklas Nielsen aboard the #50 Ferrari while the Dane scythes his way through the field in the early stages up into the top six.
On-board cameras similarly shine a spotlight on two significant clashes in LMGT3 – both involving BMWs, with contact from Yasser Shahin pitching Ian James’ Aston Martin into the circuit barriers, and Rossi coming together with Simon Mann in the Ferrari, prompting impassioned reactions in the teams’ respective pit garages.
There were differences of opinion in the Hypercar class, too, as Mike Conway and René Rast argued over the same plot of real estate, while Fuoco’s fiery battle with Sébastien Buemi came to a head when the pair made contact at Tamburello in the final hour.
There was frustration post-race at Toyota, but joy for Ferrari – whose victory with the #51 Hypercar avenged last season’s disappointment on home soil – as well as fellow podium-finisher Alpine and Manthey Racing, for whom Richard Lietz narrowly fended off a charging Kelvin Van der Linde to prevail in the closest LMGT3 finish to-date.
Featuring perceptive observations from 2014 FIA World Endurance Champion-turned-official commentator Anthony Davidson, the second instalment of this season’s WEC Full Access series can be viewed exclusively on the FIA WEC App here. It will be published on the championship’s YouTube channel on Monday, 5 May at 20:00 CEST.
