Following a decade-long absence, the historic Autódromo José Carlos Pace – more commonly known simply as Interlagos – rejoined the FIA WEC schedule last year, with Brazilian fans making their feelings known by pouring through the circuit gates in droves. More than 73,000 enthusiastic spectators were treated to a superb spectacle of on-track action – and another thrilling fight is firmly in prospect 12 months on.

There are a number of changes on the entry list compared to recent races. Aston Martin THOR Team has slimmed back down to just two drivers in each of its Valkyrie Hypercars after temporarily bulking up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while joining the legendary British marque in the two-driver club for the event will be Porsche Penske Motorsport, Team Peugeot TotalEnergies and the #8 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GR010 Hybrid.

The latter was the race-winner in São Paulo last summer in the hands of Brendon Hartley, Ryō Hirakawa and Sébastien Buemi, but the crew will need to try to repeat the feat without the presence of the Swiss star next month, as he will be on duty elsewhere.

Similarly, Peugeot duo Jean-Éric Vergne and Stoffel Vandoorne have other commitments while Porsche will be running only two drivers in its brace of Hypercars for the first time this year, in the shape of Julien Andlauer and Michael Christensen in the #5 963 and defending world champions Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor in the sister #6 entry.

At BMW M Team WRT, former FIA WEC full-timer and podium-finisher Marco Wittmann will make his seasonal debut as he returns to the cockpit of the #20 BMW M Hybrid V8 in-place of Robin Frijns.

In LMGT3, there is a new face at Racing Spirit of Léman, where Anthony McIntosh takes over from countryman Derek DeBoer, with Spa-Francorchamps ‘super-sub’ Yuichi Nakayama back in Akkodis ASP Team’s #78 Lexus RC F LMGT3 due to a scheduling clash for Ben Barnicoat. The experienced Japanese ace was part of the French outfit’s race-leading line-up on his series bow in Belgium last month alongside Finn Gehrsitz and Arnold Robin.

Iron Lynx will continue with its new-look #60 trio of Andrew Gilbert, Lorcan Hanafin and Fran Rueda that debuted at Le Mans, while Michelle Gatting is expected to rejoin the fray in the #85 Iron Dames Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3.
