The FIA World Endurance Championship’s LMGT3 category tyre-supplier, Goodyear, has been awarded a renewed three-star rating within the FIA’s Environmental Accreditation Programme – the highest possible recognition.
The programme provides a structured framework for motorsport and mobility organisations to measure, manage and improve their environmental performance. Having first received three-star environmental accreditation from the sport’s governing body in 2024, this new achievement two years on is testament to Goodyear’s steadfast focus on sustainability across all of its racing operations, products and activities.
The renewal comes off the back of a significant uptick in Goodyear’s sustainability initiatives – from manufacturing and product innovation to trackside practices and logistics – demonstrating discernible progress and a fully integrated approach throughout the organisation.
The FIA’s assessment highlighted that ‘the evidence submitted demonstrates strong top-management commitment to environmental sustainability, supported by a well-structured and well-integrated Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring effective implementation and continual improvement’.
“Renewing the FIA’s highest standard of environmental accreditation is a strong validation of the progress we have made in embedding sustainability across our racing operations,” commented Goodyear Racing Vice-President, Xavier Fraipont. “Over the past years, we have focused our efforts at every level – from how we design and manufacture our tyres to how we operate at the track.
“Crucially, we are proving there is no trade-off between performance and a more responsible approach – the two go hand-in-hand. Motorsport has always been a driver of innovation, and today, it also plays a key role in advancing more sustainable mobility. We remain fully committed to building upon this progress together with our partners, continuing to push the boundaries of performance and sustainability.”

Goodyear recently introduced its 2027 generation of EAGLE racing tyres for LMGT3, combining enhanced on-track performance with the usage of 66 per cent sustainable materials while increasing its focus on virtual development and simulation. The company’s single-specification strategy additionally reduces resource consumption and logistics impact.
Such advances demonstrate the manner in which Goodyear leverages motorsport as a platform to accelerate innovation and sustainable solutions both on the racetrack and the road, contributing to its long-term targets – including a transition to 100 per cent renewable energy in manufacturing by 2040, and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.
“Goodyear’s renewed three-star accreditation reflects exactly the kind of sustained, credible commitment the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme is designed to recognise,” remarked the governing body’s Senior Circuit Sport Director, Marek Nawarecki. “By embedding sustainability from manufacturing through to trackside operations, Goodyear has demonstrated measurable, lasting progress.”
“We warmly congratulate Goodyear on the renewal of its FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation,” added Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest. “This achievement reflects the commitment of a major partner of endurance racing, demonstrating that performance and a more responsible approach can progress together.
“Alongside the ACO, Goodyear plays an important role in developing innovative solutions for motorsport. Endurance racing has always been a laboratory for progress and it must remain so, not only in terms of performance, but also in supporting the transformation of mobility. This is the spirit of our collaboration with Goodyear.”
