How and where to watch the FIA WEC season-opener from Qatar

Round one of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship will get underway later this week for the Qatar Airways Qatar 1812km (1-2 March).

Want to tune in? Read on for everything you need to know about how you can keep up with all the action from the 2024 WEC season-opener from home.

Action from Free Practice 3 on Friday (1 March) will be live to watch on the FIA WEC YouTube channel.  For 8.99 Euros, the WEC action (including qualifying) is also available via the official FIA WEC app (more info below).

EUROPE

Eurosport will broadcast the WEC action across Europe including Italy, UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain where qualifying and the first two hours and final two hours will be shown on Eurosport 2.

The live coverage on Eurosport will commence at 10:30am (CET) with highlights of the race scheduled for 5 March at 21:00 on Eurosport 1.

Free-to-air La Chaine L’Equipe will televise most of the race live to fans who are residents in France (first four hours live and final two hours). The full race will also be shown on L’Equipe.FR. Meanwhile, Germany – the home of Porsche – will benefit from extended coverage on Sport1, Eurosport and RTL Nitro.

Fans of Robert Kubica can watch the full race live in Poland on Polsat Sport while RTL7 will show highlights in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Ferrari and Lamborghini fans can watch highlights from Italy via MediaSet, as well as live via Eurosport.

The race action will also be available live online on several platforms including a deal with Discovery+ in the UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Italy and the Netherlands as well as on Eurosport Player.

USA + CANADA

For American fans, a new broadcast deal was recently announced on Max, which will show every round of the 2024 season including the 24 Hours of Le Mans for U.S. subscribers.

Through Max’s B/R Sports Add-On, live and on-demand coverage of the WEC will benefit from extensive production 30 minutes before and after races including a dedicated pit reporter to bring viewers closer to the action as well as every lap from qualifying.

Alongside Max, WBD’s channels and platforms will retain exclusivity of the WEC in the U.S. with its continued broadcast on the number one network for automotive superfans, MotorTrend TV and via the MotorTrend app. MotoTrend Is also available to those residing in Canada.

SOUTH AMERICA

For South America, The Bandeirantes Group will broadcast the WEC in Brazil. The new agreement sees the WEC broadcast via the Bandsports pay-TV channel, digital platform Bandplay and the Esporte na Band channel on YouTube.  The open TV channel Band and the Group's radio stations will provide journalistic coverage of the season.

DirecTV Sports will show the WEC across central and South America plus the Caribbean (excluding Mexico and Brazil) on its channel DSports Motor.

Fox Sports has the rights in Mexico and will broadcast the race live on Fox Sports 3. In Brazil, fans can tune in live via Bandsports or via Esport Na Band which is available on YouTube.

ASIA + AUSTRALASIA

A pan-Asian TV deal with Eurosport for the continent of Asia sees the race from Qatar broadcast on Eurosport 2which also includes India.

Japan, the home of Toyota, has the full race live on J Sports 3. Online channel StanSport will televise the WEC in Australia. Online platforms Doujin will cover the race in China.

AFRICA

Long-term WEC broadcast partner SuperSport will televise the race to residents living in Sub-Saharan Africa with the full race live on OTT2 with multiple repeats on MSP/MSPA.

OFFICIAL FIA WEC APP

FIAWEC.TV will broadcast Qatar live on its online platform.  This is available worldwide. Individual race packages are available to buy for 8.99 Euros or fans. Available on the app will be qualifying, race replays and full English commentary from experts Anthony Davidson, Martin Haven, Graham Goodwin as well as pitlane reporter, Louise Beckett.  For more information about the app, click HERE.
