The FIA World Endurance Championship is delighted to announce that Germany’s three-time Olympic Champion, two-time World Champion and overall Alpine Skiing World Cup Champion Maria Höfl-Riesch will wave the green flag at 13h00 on Sunday 24 July for the start of the 6 Hours of Nürburgring.

The super-talented sportswoman, who comes from Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, retired from international skiing after the 2014 Winter Olympic season but not before becoming one of the most recognised and respected sporting names in Europe.

Mrs Höfl-Riesch will attend Germany’s round of the WEC as a guest of Audi, one of the three LMP1 manufacturers challenging for World Championship titles this season.  She will not only be able to visit the team’s pit garage to see prototype, and indeed motorsport, technology at the highest level, but also be treated to the full Audi VIP track experience.

Audi Sport Team Joest has taken victory in Belgium this year and finished on the podium at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June, and the on-track battle against fellow German marque Porsche and the Cologne-based Toyota Gazoo Racing.
