With just weeks to go until the third round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Le Mans 24 Hours on 18/19 June, teams around the world are busy finalising their preparations for the world’s greatest sportscar race.
Some, including defending Champion Porsche, have carried out extensive endurance testing and the German marque’s final test has just drawn to a close at the Spanish Motorland Aragóntrack.
Porsche’s Chief Test Engineer Pascal Zurlinden confirmed that the team covered 8,427 km which is the equivalent to one and half times the distance of the big race itself.
All six of Porsche’s drivers - Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley, Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb, Neel Jani and Romain Dumas - shared one 919 Hybrid, and have now headed home for some much-needed sleep before travelling to Le Mans for the official test day on Sunday 5 June.
