Team Peugeot TotalEnergies has announced that Alex Quinn will graduate from his testing and development duties to a full-time race seat in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027, as part of a new multi-year agreement with the marque.
Following a successful formative career in karting, Quinn quickly established a strong reputation as he climbed the junior single-seater ladder, earning Rookie titles in both the British F4 Championship and Formula Renault Eurocup before switching his focus to endurance racing in 2023, initially contesting IMSA’s LMP2 division in the United States with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports and tallying two rostrums from four starts.
In 2024, the Brit added the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) to his burgeoning CV, placing runner-up in the LMP2 Pro/Am standings with Algarve Pro Racing while simultaneously marking another milestone as he made his debut in the long-distance discipline’s flagship event – the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Competing for AO by TF, he finished sixth in LMP2 and second amongst the Pro/Am protagonists.
Last year, Quinn continued his upward trajectory, repeating his championship runner-up result in ELMS’ LMP2 Pro-Am battle courtesy of victories at Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone. His front-running performances brought him to the attention of Peugeot, who duly invited him to try out its podium-finishing Hypercar during the annual FIA WEC Rookie Test in Bahrain.
Subsequently appointed test and development driver for the French manufacturer, the 25-year-old – a farmer day-to-day – has spent the current campaign supporting the evolution of the 9X8, which will enter 2027 in significantly upgraded form. He is relishing the prospect of playing an even bigger part in the project moving forward.
“Becoming an official driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in the FIA World Endurance Championship is a dream come true,” enthused Quinn, whose glittering 2026 season yielded a class triumph in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, LMP2 Pro/Am glory at Le Mans and the IMSA LMP2 category crown following a spectacular finale at Petit Le Mans, where the race win and title were decided only on the very last lap.

“It has been fantastic working with the team throughout this year, both at the factory and in testing. Stepping up to a full-time race seat is something I am incredibly excited about and something I feel ready for after my recent successes in other championships. Most importantly, I’m extremely grateful to everyone at Team Peugeot TotalEnergies for this opportunity, and I hope this is the beginning of an exciting journey together.”
Those sentiments are echoed by Team Principal, Emmanuel Esnault, who is quick to praise the West Country ace’s close collaboration with the squad, commitment during test sessions, technical feedback, in-depth knowledge of the 9X8 and standout displays on-track – qualities that he says cement Quinn’s status as one of the discipline’s most promising rising stars and a natural choice for the future.
“We are delighted to promote Alex from the role of test and development driver to full-time race driver in 2027,” Esnault commented. “He has demonstrated great abilities at the wheel of the car when testing with us and in his sporting achievements in LMP2 again this season, and his pedigree is quite impressive.
“This is the second time at Peugeot that we are promoting a young talent coming from the LMP2 landscape into a race driver role in Hypercar, and we are looking forward to racing with him next year at the wheel of the evolved Peugeot 9X8.”
