Seidl pays tribute to ‘sensational Porsche team’

Porsche Team Principal Andreas Seidl has heralded the successful defence of the FIA World Endurance Manufacturers title as a ‘special achievement for every member of Team Porsche.’

The boss of the LMP1 team has steered the Weissach based manufacturer to two golden seasons which has seen it take two Le Mans 24 Hour winners’ trophies and, now, back-to-back Manufacturers crown.

“It is obviously really, really great to win the manufacturers title for the second time in a row,” said Seidl. “It is time, on behalf of Fritz (Enzinger) and myself, to say a big thank you to the team back home in Weissach and here at the track as well as our six drivers for the great job and all the hard work they have done since the beginning of this project.

“This Manufacturers’ championship is the result of a very strong car. We have been there in terms of performance in every single race this year. We have had good reliability and the mechanics did a sensational job,” he continued. “There is still one more race to go and one more championship open. We will celebrate tonight and then we focus on the Drivers’ championship also.”

Porsche has won all but two of the eight races held this season and the No.2 Porsche 919 Hybrid crew of Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb and Neel Jani now lead the Drivers’ championship by 17 points from the No.6 Toyota TS050 crew of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Stéphane Sarrazin.
