Ahead of this weekend’s 6 Hours of Monza – the final round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign (6-8 November) – 35 new oak trees have been planted along the historic Viale Mirabello, outside the Ascari Chicane, courtesy of a joint long-term initiative between the series and the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
The forest surrounding the famous track was significantly damaged by fierce storms three years ago, uprooting thousands of trees and profoundly disrupting the landscape and ecosystem of the Parco di Monza.
Since then, an earnest project has been underway to restore the woodland area and expand its green heritage, while drawing attention to the growing impacts of climate change.
Today’s tree-planting ceremony was attended by FIA WEC CEO, Frédéric Lequien, Automobile Club de l’Ouest President, Pierre Fillon, Autodromo Nazionale Monza President, Giuseppe Redaelli, Municipality of Monza Parks Councillor, Arianna Bettin and Autodromo Nazionale Monza General Manager, Alfredo Scala. Similarly present were Team Peugeot TotalEnergies duo, Théo Pourchaire and Nick Cassidy as well as Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG ace, Lin Hodenius.
In total, 35 new trees will take root in the Bosco Bello section of the park as part of a broader reforestation drive – a symbolic figure that represents the number of cars currently competing across the series’ Hypercar and LMGT3 categories, and an undertaking that reaffirms the close bond between motorsport innovation, environmental preservation and the local area that is home to one of the world's most iconic racing circuits.

Giuseppe Redaelli, President, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, said:
“The planting of these 35 new oak trees is a tangible expression of our mission, which combines the promotion of motorsport with an ongoing commitment to environmental education and the protection of our local area. It also stands as a testament to our shared responsibility to demonstrate how motorsport can actively contribute to building a more sustainable future.
“Following the severe storms of 2023, our commitment is to continue ensuring a virtuous balance between the sporting and technological development of the Autodromo and the preservation, restoration and expansion of the green spaces and tree heritage of the park and the city of Monza.”
Frédéric Lequien, CEO, FIA World Endurance Championship, said:
“Sustainability is a core consideration in FIA WEC, and at every venue we visit, we strive to work together with the circuit and local organisations to leave a positive and meaningful legacy that will endure far beyond the race weekend. We are delighted to have been able to collaborate so closely with the Autodromo Nazionale Monza on this tree-planting project, and look forward to seeing the regeneration of Monza Park take shape.”
Pierre Fillon, President, Automobile Club de l’Ouest, said:
“At the ACO, we put sustainability at the heart of our strategy for the future of the sport, and are constantly seeking new ways to build bridges between motor racing and environmental protection. The backdrop of Monza Park is synonymous with the famous Autodromo, and it has been our privilege to play a small part in this reforestation initiative that I have no doubt will continue to take root over the coming years.”
