The application of 3D printing is perhaps not unusual in this day and age, and many top racing teams make use of the innovative design and production method, ideal for an industry where time is of the essence.
Britain’s Strakka Racing is, however, unique in that its Dome S103 is currently being displayed in the world-famous Louvre art museum in Paris as part of an exhibition on 3D printing.
Thanks to Strakka’s partnership with specialist company, Stratasys, the LMP2 car which was used by the team for the first three rounds of the 2015 FIA WEC season featured many 3D-printed parts including the dashboard and camera mount. According to the team, the lightweight parts were produced much faster and at a lower cost compared to traditional fabrication methods.

The Strakka Racing car and other 3D printed items are on display today and tomorrow.
