Sebastien Buemi – Toyota Racing
“Of course I am happy that we got pole position here at Fuji, the home track for Toyota. I was stopped at the pit exit for a long time before the final runs and it took some laps to get the full temperature in to the tyres, but we did it. It is satisfying to start from the front and it now gives us and all the Toyota team the best possible place to build a nice race. I am happy too for the fans who have been fantastic all weekend. They are so enthusiastic.”
Tom Kristensen – Audi Sport Team Joest
“Everything can happen during the race as we saw in Texas. I have been racing here at Fuji since 1991 when I was in F3, I know how conditions can change and not just rain but the atmospheric conditions can change dramatically. I think it will be an interesting race and there is all to play for.”
Brendon Hartley – Porsche Team
“For us the tyre wear will be a crucial aspect of the race for us. Sector three is the area where everyone suffers the most on degradation so it will be super important to manage it properly but there is only a certain amount you can do. But as a team we are generally happy with the things went in qualifying. It looks like we will get a dry race and I think we can achieve a very good job collectively here in Fuji.”
John Gaw– Aston Martin Racing Managing Director
““It was a great start to our race weekend here in Fuji for all of our cars. The #99 team has done a fantastic job to take pole in the GTE Pro class. It’s incredibly tough to do and they should be really pleased – they now need to convert that into a strong result in the race.”
Keiko Ihara – OAK Racing
“Alex (Brundle) and Gustavo (Yacaman) did a very nice job for the team in qualifying. It is now all about the race and we are in very good shape. I think we can achieve a great show for the fans today and despite some very strong competition we can be proud to race at the front at Fuji Speedway.”
