Robert Kubica took the fastest time in the second free practice session in Italy, as teams and drivers continued to prepare for Sunday’s final round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
Similarly challenging wet conditions to the morning session met competitors at the historic track just north of Milan during FP2
Like in FP1, however, times improved as the session went on, with less wet running as the track dried out considerably; it was the #83 Ferrari that sat atop the order at the chequered flag, with Kubica peaking on a best lap of 1m38.143s – seven seconds quicker than this morning’s ultimate pace
That effort by the 2025 Le Mans winner proved to be 0.7secs faster the #007 Aston Martin Valkyrie of Harry Tincknell and Tom Gamble, who continued their strong form as the crowd-pleasing, V12-powered prototype looks for its maiden FIA WEC win this Sunday
Raffaele Marciello put BMW third courtesy of a strong lap at the end of the session in the car he shares with Kevin Magnussen and Dries Vanthoor; the #15 M Hybrid V8, which sits equal on points with the sister #20 Hypercar heading into the final race, was itself almost a full second adrift of the #007 Aston Martin
Fourth was the #36 Alpine A424, as Victor Martins again posted the French car’s best lap in the drier conditions with a peak of 1m40.058s
The rookie’s time was just faster than the #19 Genesis GMR-001, with Mathieu Jaminet continuing to showcase the pace of the striking Korean Hypercar as it completes its maiden season in FIA WEC
The top six was completed by the #38 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R in the hands of Earl Bamber (1m40.295s)
The title-battling Toyotas ended up down in 12th and 17th positions, with the #8 TR010 Hybrid heading the Japanese marque’s #7 car

Proton Competition’s Ford Mustangs took a one-two sweep of the top of the timesheets at Monza, as Sebastian Priaulx and Logan Sargeant led the way for the American brand
Priaulx’s 1m50.352s lap in the final minutes of the session was a slender 0.087s faster than the sister Mustang of ex-F1 ace Sargeant
Iron Lynx continued to show big promise, with Maxime Martin setting the third-best lap in the #61 Mercedes-AMG entry
The Belgian veteran’s time was 0.8s clear of the #91 Manthey DK Engineering Porsche, as Ayhancan Güven peaked on a best effort of 1m51.344s
Lexus placed fifth, as José María López in the #87 RC F headed the sister #78 Akkodis ASP Team-run model of Esteban Masson – the pair separated by a mere 0.068s
It was, by contrast, a tough session for championship leader TF Sport, as the #33 Corvette managed no better than 17th
Check out the full FP2 results. The third free practice session is scheduled to begin at 10:30 local time (CET) on Saturday.
